God speed for a speedy recovery 🙏 🙌

On Thursday, October 3, 2024 at approximately 11:35 PM Webb County Sheriff’s Office was called to assist the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) with traffic control on Interstate Highway 35 due to a crash that had occurred. A Patrol Deputy in his marked black and white patrol car with his emergency lights on was stationary on the southbound lane by mile marker 24 diverting traffic to Toll Road 255. A box tractor traveling southbound disregarded the emergency lights and struck the passenger side of the patrol unit. Both the Deputy and the driver of the Box Tractor were transported to a local hospital in Laredo for medical treatment. The investigation is being handled by the Texas Highway Patrol.

“One of the most dangerous parts of a first responder’s job is stepping out on the side of the road, whether it is to assist a motorist, a traffic stop, or to investigate a crash. I urge the motoring public to avoid distractions, slow down, and be aware of emergency lights of all first responders while operating their vehicles on our roadways,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
