Please be aware of a fraudulent text message scam currently circulating that attempts to steal personal information and may charge unnecessary fees.

These messages claim to originate from the Louisiana Department of Safety & Homeland Security, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, or the Louisiana Secretary of State’s Office. The texts use language similar to previous scams that falsely claim to be from the Office of Motor Vehicles and attempt to direct recipients to click a link or submit payment.

Important reminders:

-Louisiana state agencies do not send text messages requesting payment or personal information for collections.
-These messages are fraudulent.
-Do not click the links, respond, or send any payment.
-The safest action is to delete the message immediately.
