October often brings the first real sense that the year is winding down.

That can create pressure to “get everything done.” But a better question may be:
What would make the rest of this year feel more settled?

Maybe it is understanding one account you have ignored. Updating a beneficiary. Making a decision you have postponed. Talking with your spouse about a shared priority. Or simply confirming that the plan is still on track.

Financial clarity rarely comes from doing everything at once. It usually comes from identifying the next important thing and giving it proper attention.

BIG NUMBER | 66,000

🌴 More Americans are deciding that enjoying life now matters just as much as making financial progress for later.

A recent SoFi survey found that 72% of Americans would be willing to make slower progress toward their financial goals so they can spend more time with family, travel more, and prioritize meaningful experiences.

That doesn’t necessarily mean abandoning long-term goals. In fact, 59% of respondents said enjoying life is how they define financial progress, compared with 27% who pointed to owning a home.

The challenge is finding a balance between what matters now and what matters later. ✈️ That can mean making room for a vacation, concert, or family event while still keeping an eye on retirement savings and debt.

But charge that trip to a credit card and carry a balance, and interest can turn a two-week memory into a much longer bill.

What does financial progress look like to you: reaching the next milestone, enjoying more of life now, or some mix of both?

Not every financial review leads to change. Sometimes the right move is confirming your plan still fits your life—a decision that builds real confidence, not just activity.

A financial review does not have to produce a transaction to be valuable. Sometimes the right conclusion is that the current plan still makes sense. The important distinction is whether “no change” reflects a thoughtful decision or simple inattention.

Budgeting is a tool for keeping your spending in check while helping your expenses align with your income.

✅ Yet not everyone sticks to a household budget.

🤔 Why is this? Perhaps it’s a gap in financial education during our school years, which can contribute to less-than-ideal money habits later in life. 📚💡

April is National Social Security Month—a good reminder to review your claiming strategy.

When you claim Social Security can impact your lifetime benefits. Claiming at 62 means accepting a permanent reduction, while waiting until 70 will increase your monthly payment. The right timing depends on a wide range of factors, including your health, income needs, and overall retirement strategy.

If you're within a few years of claiming, now's a great time to review how Social Security fits into your bigger financial picture.

Questions about your retirement strategy? Let's talk.
