A special note from Victoria, a member of the marketing team:
If you’ve noticed WAA has been a little quieter than usual on our media outlets, it’s because I’ve been busy behind the scenes — not just managing marketing, but opening my own business.
Just last week, I officially launched Right Bower Kitchen & Coffee in Traverse City, Michigan — cozy, local, full of heart and delicious goods. It’s not a big tech startup or a high-growth venture. But building it has been a true test of my own entrepreneurial energy and a masterclass in business at 3x speed, from budgeting and forecasting to team building and operations — to OPENING — in the span of just a couple of months.
Truthfully, I don’t think I’ve ever worked as hard in my life as I have over the last three weeks. I’ve never been more grateful for the business literacy I’ve absorbed from the WAA team over the years, the Flying With Founders experiences, and all the brilliant leaders I’ve had the privilege of learning from. This new undertaking would not have been possible without them.
Just as I am a part of sharing resources and lessons to founders about prioritizing their own health and wellbeing, I’ve had to remind myself of the same things as I’ve spent days running on little sleep, working late into the night and starting early in the mornings.
The principles we share at Washington Avenue Advisors — financial clarity, value creation, exit readiness, legacy building — they aren’t just for tech unicorns. They apply to every business, even my café with its killer breakfast menu, beautiful espresso machine, and an upcoming Euchre night on the calendar.
If you’re building something, big or small, we see you. And if you ever want to talk through your next steps — financially or otherwise — the team at WAA is here to help, just as they have for me.
More updates soon. 💙
