The Lander Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) is partnering with the Fremont County Fire Protection District to celebrate Fire Prevention Week, October 5–9. Firefighters will visit local daycares, preschools, and elementary schools, reaching 20 classrooms across the community with fire safety lessons. The week wraps up with a community open house on Thursday, October 8, from 6:00–8:00 PM at the Lander Fire Hall.

This year’s theme, set by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), is “Charge into Fire Safety: Safe Charging Is a Superpower.” The campaign highlights how to safely use, charge, and dispose of lithium-ion batteries—common in everything from phones to power tools—and emphasizes that one wrong move could cause a dangerous fire in a home, garage, shop, or business.

On a "whirl"? Support the Fremont County Museums by bidding on a piece of Western art history!

Frank C. McCarthy’s "Whirling, He Raced to Meet the Challenge" is a striking Western work depicting a Blackfoot warrior charging through a creek. Dated 1982, this dynamic scene captures McCarthy’s celebrated sense of motion, drama, and detail in the American West.

This giclée reproduction comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, making it a wonderful opportunity to add a piece of McCarthy’s iconic Western imagery to your collection while supporting the Fremont County Museums.

Lander Gears Up for a Busy Soccer Weekend on September 26-27
Press Release: https://www.landerwy.gov/community/page/lander-gears-busy-soccer-weekend-september-26-27

Lander is gearing up for a busy weekend as 98 teams and an estimated 2,000+ players and fans come to town for the Fremont Toyota Shootout Soccer Tournament on September 26-27.

Games will take place throughout Lander at Lander Valley High School, North Park, and the Popo Agie fields (Pathfinder High School). In addition to tournament games, food trucks will be available at Lander Valley High School, and the Elks Soccer Shoot Competition will take place Saturday at LVHS.

More information: www.landerstrikerssoccer.org/fremont-toyota-shootout

With thousands of visitors expected throughout the weekend, residents should anticipate increased traffic near tournament locations and a busy weekend around town. Restaurants, hotels, shops, and other local businesses may experience heavier-than-usual traffic.

We encourage the community to come out and enjoy the tournament, support our local businesses, and help give a warm Lander welcome to the athletes, families, and fans visiting our community.
