Yesterday, I learned that this month is the month for letting things go and I’m letting go of feeling like an expired listing is a failure.
I may get some hate for this one but I’m putting it out there. The reality is, Realtors do NOT set the prices. We can make recommendations but it’s ultimately the seller’s decision if and when we can make price adjustments. Trust me when I say, we do not want an overpriced listing sitting on the market. Of course, we also don’t want to underprice a listing. But the market is going to tell us pretty quickly if we need to adjust and if a seller isn’t open to that feedback, the home simply will not sell.
So, in this era of growth and experience, I have learned to take a breath and let it go. I can look back and say ok maybe I could have done this differently and next time I’ll do this. But I’m not beating myself up anymore. I am the expert. That’s why sellers hire me. I have 11 years of knowledge and experience to apply to every transaction.
It’s like going to the dr…you can find out what’s wrong but if you don’t take the medicine you’ll never get better.
