Check out our brand new website! Our old website represented our firm well for many years, but as we have grown and created a more dynamic advisory firm, our website needed to adapt to better represent us. We have evolved into a more dynamic advisory firm, and our website needed to adapt to better reflect our current identity.

We believe that investment Management should encompass far more than algorithmically managed model portfolios, over-diversified mutual funds, and ETFs. We believe that investment management should actually encompass management.  Markets can be inhospitable, requiring diligence and resolve in the f...

We are taking a much-needed break from discussing monetary policy, economics, and market dynamics. This month's commentary delves into the most crucial aspect of what drives our client portfolio strategies, the determination of value, and the drivers of value creation. Using a widely held portfolio holding, I show how we look at a business, its financial condition, and its ability to create shareholder value in the future. This illustration should not be construed as an investment recommendation but instead as a template for what factors we believe are most important when choosing an equity to invest.

As always, please share this post with anyone in your Facebook friend group who would find this topic interesting.

This month's commentary attempts to explain why the markets feel broken, manipulated or unhinged. The simple truth is that today's markets have very little resemblance to markets from 15 or 20 years ago. We hope that this commentary helps you better understand why today's markets feel the way they do.

I have previously written about the impact of both quantitative (programmatic trading) and passive (index) investing on capital markets and price disc...

Last year in January, this commentary’s title referenced Transitory Inflation, Stock Prices, Fear, and Secular Optimism. This year I start the year talking about Optimism. The Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation measure, Core PCE, has been consistently below 2% over the last six months. Stock prices at the index level had a very strong year in 2023 and are off to positive start in 2024 and gauges of fear among investors have subsided significantly over the last 12 months.

The colleagues who support and partner with Seven Summits Capital have grown to four in the last 12 months, three in Scottsdale, AZ and one in Salisbury, MD.

We are optimistic and our investment strategies and advice will reflect a view of the future which is underpinned by the tremendous adaptability and resilience of American ingenuity and resilience.

Moving forward with confidence,

We are very excited to begin 2024. I have been writing about why falling stock prices can be a blessing in disguise, why the economy is not as bad as...

Having over 25 years of experience has a way of providing fortitude and reasoned thinking when it comes to resisting the mirage of doom that can temporarily engulf markets and be amplified by a chorus of pundits who take the easy road and become part of a chorus of fear and hysteria.

I believe that we are exiting this latest challenging period and are at the beginning of what I hope will be a more balanced market when it comes to fear and greed.

I wish everyone happiness and good health during this season of holidays and the beginning of a new year.

I wrote in our September 2022 Investment Commentary, “Both the stock and bond market look oversold at today’s levels from our view, and when this has ...

This month's commentary discusses the reasons behind the under-peformance of small and mid-cap equities. The downward pressure applied to equity markets over the last two years by the fear of rising rates and the reality of those rates appears to be reversing. The most apparent evidence of this reversal will be seen in small and mid-cap equities.

If you have a diversified portfolio, you will have exposure to small and mid-cap companies. As Jim Cramer on CNBC says, these small and mid-cap stock...

This month’s commentary looks at the historic bond Bear Market that receives very little attention and illustrates the types of opportunities that we see as throughout the markets.

The “keep it simple” view of investing is that equities will provide “real” investment returns over and above inflation over the long term. Fixed inco...

In this month's commentary I touch on where I think we are as investors in the Bull/Bear cycle. However, I spend much of the commentary discussing the allure of crisis and negativity, and a concept that I use and find invaluable as an investor that everyone, no matter their profession or endeavor, can derive benefit.

In the July 10th Barron's magazine, there was an article titled "The S&P 500 is now a Tech Fund." That was a timely article given that we had chosen to delve into this subject matter in the July 2023 Investment Commentary.

I hope that you enjoy reading this relatively short commentary as you try to stay cool during these hot days of Summer.

This commentary will build on the subject matter of a very concentrated equity market during the first half of 2023, which I discussed at length last ...

June ushers in Summer, and Summer reminds me of the Beach Boys music. As the equity markets continue to heal from last year's significant Bear Market, the Beach Boys' song that comes to mind is "HELP is on the Way." The year has started off well looking at certain parts of the stock market. This commentary provides an overview of what has worked and what has yet to turn around. The way we manage investments, we cannot look at the market as monolithic, we must dive deeper to understand where pockets of value can be found.

The Bear Market that began in 2022 appears to be in the rearview mirror, so what type of stock market have we seen since the beginning of 2023? So fa...

Why does it seem that the world presents us with a continual flow of existential threats? Whether or not you are trying to make important decisions about your investments, your career, or your health and well being, the presence of danger always seems to be looming large. If you are old enough to remember the 1980's or 1990's you can recall a time when we were made aware of wars in far away places, political scandals, and economic uncertainty, but the average person was not consumed by these events such that society felt continually afraid and threatened. This month's commentary explores what has changed and why.

Politicians and policymakers, advertising-funded media, securities traders, religion, and social media all are invested in perpetuating fear. Society...
