January 31st is a double-deadline! 💥

Here's what you can do to prepare:

If you have employees, you’re responsible for filing Form W-2 and Form W-3 by January 31st. You’ll also need to make sure you send each employee a copy of their W-2.

Consider this your reminder to verify your employee’s contact information now! 📝

If you have contractors that you’ve paid over $600 for services in 2024, you may need to send them a 1099-NEC.

Confirm with your tax accountant whether each of your contractors should be issued this form and don’t forget to file and send your contractor(s) a copy by January 31.

Your LAST estimated tax payment is due on January 15th, here's what you need to know: ⤵️

WHO HAS TO PAY?

If you expect to owe $1,000 or more in taxes when you file your tax return, you generally need to make estimated tax payments.

This generally includes self-employed individuals, business owners, people with significant investment income, and anyone earning income without sufficient withholdings.

WHEN ARE PAYMENTS DUE?

Estimated taxes are paid in quarterly installments. For 2024, the remaining fourth quarter installment is due on January 15, 2025.

Payments can be sent via mail with Form 1040-ES, but I recommend checking out buff.ly/3CYUh4Y to learn more about the IRS’s electronic payment methods!

HOW MUCH DO I PAY?

You should be paying taxes on the income earned in the period covered by the quarterly tax payment.

To avoid an underpayment penalty, you need to pay at least 90% of the tax you owe in the current year, or 100% (110% for high-income earners) of your prior-year tax liability (whichever is lower).

Position Overview:
As an experienced tax preparer, you will be responsible for preparing and reviewing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations. You will ensure compliance with state and federal tax regulations and provide high-quality customer service.

Location:
Remote (Eastern Standard Time)

Key Responsibilities:
-Prepare individual and business tax returns (1040, 1065, 1120, etc.)
-Review client financial documents to ensure accuracy and completeness
-Conduct tax planning and offer advice to clients on tax-saving strategies
-Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations
