As Kids' Chance Awareness Week draws to a close, we celebrate Kids’ Chance organizations for providing educational opportunities to students whose lives have been affected by a parent’s workplace injury or death.

Our team members contribute their time and talents to Kids’ Chance organizations year-round. 📦 This week, our Lancaster office hosted Kids' Chance of PA’s annual care packaging event and joined them to assemble 52 boxes of encouragement for scholarship recipients.

👟👟 We're also preparing for the 9th annual Brighter Futures 5K, taking place Nov. 14 at Lancaster Junction Recreation Trail. Eastern is the founding sponsor of the 5K, which benefits the Friends of Pam Reynolds Memorial Scholarship, part of KCPA’s named scholar partner program. OSHA recommends a hierarchy of controls to reduce workplace noise exposure:
• Eliminate excessive noise at the source, whenever possible

Workplace violence impacts thousands of employees every year.

In 2023-24, workplace assaults resulted in 54,230 injuries requiring time away from work, and 470 fatalities were reported in 2024.

What can employers do to create a safer workplace?

Train employees to recognize and report warning signs, including:

• Bullying, harassment, or intimidating behavior
• Conflicts with customers, coworkers, or supervisors
• References to weapons or threats
• Statements that condone violence
• Desperate or suicidal comments
• Substance abuse concerns
• Sudden or extreme changes in behavior
