Electrical hazards aren’t limited to electrical jobs. In fact, 74% of U.S. workplace electrical fatalities occur in non‑electrical occupations. During National Electrical Safety Month, it’s a good reminder to revisit safe work practices and reinforce behaviors that can prevent serious injuries and fatalities.

One in five adults will experience a mental health condition in a given year. During Mental Health Awareness Month, it’s a good reminder for employers that a supportive workplace benefits everyone. While mental health conditions aren’t always visible, accommodations like flexible schedules, remote work, and mental‑health‑related leave can make a meaningful difference.

It’s National Nurses Day, and we’re celebrating these MVPs for everything they do to help injured workers return to wellness. From making sure their patients get to their appointments to pitching in with physical therapy, nurses are amazing advocates, and we’re deeply appreciative of our in-house nurse managers. Thank you, one and all!

Falls from elevation continue to be a major cause of fatalities among construction workers, accounting for 389 of the 1,034 deaths reported in 2024.

This week marks the 13th annual National Safety Stand‑Down, a time for worksites across the US to pause, refocus, and reinforce fall prevention. It’s an opportunity to talk openly about fall hazards, protective methods, and safety expectations, and to hear directly from crews about what they’re seeing in the field.

Today is Workers’ Memorial Day, a time to honor those who lost their lives on the job and reaffirm our commitment to workplace safety. In 2023, nearly 5,300 workers were killed, with the highest fatality rates in construction, transportation, agriculture, and manufacturing.

Behind every statistic is a person with family and a future cut short. That’s why the work our friends at Kids’ Chance of America do is so important: they give the children of seriously or fatally injured workers a chance at a better future through scholarships and support.

Struck-by incidents are the number one cause of nonfatal injuries in construction and the leading cause of death among heavy and civil construction workers.
From vehicles and falling objects to heavy equipment, struck-by hazards are present on nearly every job site.

During this National Work Zone Awareness Week, employers are encouraged to take part in the National Stand-Down to Prevent Struck-by Incidents. It’s a chance for you to talk directly to your team about struck-by hazard recognition and prevention.

For support, CPWR offers more than 50 struck-by-prevention resources, many of which are available in Spanish, to help employers participate effectively. https://www.cpwr.com/research/research-to-practice-r2p/r2p-library/other-resources-for-stakeholders/struck-by-hazards/
