Let’s talk about online checking/savings accounts real quick. I’m going to use Chime as an example because most of you have heard of them. Chime has no local branches, that means you can’t go up to a local bank and get a cashiers check from them. Title companies can only accept cashier checks or wire transfers. To my knowledge as of last week, Chime does not allow wire transfers. So, if you’re thinking about purchasing a home in the near future, I would recommend opening up a checking account at least 3 months prior to purchasing a home to make everything much easier for you.

I’ve said this before and I’ll keep repeating it over and over.

If your lender is not willing to give you their best rate and fees upfront, why are you working with them?

Reflecting back on my mortgage journey. I started right as mortgage rates were increasing after the COVID boom. We went through some very hard times. I remember going 2 months without closing a loan and getting a paycheck. We were given deals that other lenders said no way and we had to find a way to make them work. That made us who we are today. I remember sending out market updates to just a few agents, now that number has increased to 53. I have agents reaching out often that I have never heard of. I’ve helped new agents grow and taught them what I could from the lending side of things. I’ve even had other lenders who were new reach out with questions. I want everyone to be successful, even agents that don’t work with me and other lenders who are my competition. I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. I also want to say THANK YOU to all my customers and agents who have trusted us over the years. As we continue to grow in 2026 we will make it a priority to give the same level of customer service next year as we did in 2022.
God bless you all.

I want to give a shoutout to all the title companies in the area. They have been rockstars and working their butts off to get deals closed. With the holidays and the government shutdown, they have been overwhelmed, but they just keep on trucking. Thank you!

FYI: The Fed fund rates and mortgage rates are 2 separate types of rates. When the Feds are projected to lower their rates, mortgage bonds will react prior to doing so. Example, mortgage rates went down yesterday in anticipation of the Feds cutting rates today. Today the Feds did cut rates and mortgage rates actually increased. The good news is, mortgage rates are projected to keep slowing dropping into 2026 and possibly 2027 at this time. A lot can change, but at this pace a refi boom will be coming soon.
