I have some exciting news that I have made an employment switch after being with the same company 8.5 out of the past 10 year moving to Edge Home Finance which is the largest broker in Minnesota and the 2nd largest in the Country. With the competitive market, high rents and recent rate cuts, I needed to be able to offer almost everything mortgage related. With Edge, I have over 100 different lenders to choose from (making it easy to shop the best rate/program) for first mortgages and some very good first-time homebuyer options with very little down and still probably lower than their current rent payment. On Wednesday, the Federal Reserve maintained its key interest rate unchanged for the fifth consecutive meeting, opting to await further data before deciding on potential rate cuts. Fed Chair Jerome Powell emphasized that the central bank is not currently inclined to reduce borrowing costs. Fed officials are grappling with the delicate challenge of striking the right balance between the perils of cutting rates prematurely and the dangers of delaying such actions. The timing of the initial rate cut is thus pivotal, as it could either undermine the progress already achieved by the Fed if executed too early, or it could fall short in averting a significant economic downturn if delayed excessively.

What is a not-so-jolly issue that people face more and more around the holiday season?

Gift card scams.

Scammers will impersonate the IRS or pretend to be their target’s employer. They will request that the target either purchase gift cards for co-workers or list them as the best way to pay off some non-existent tax bill. While many people will quickly see this as suspicious, a fair amount have fallen for this trap, opening themselves up to major financial issues, or even repercussions in their job.
