Twin Cities — ready for another Minnesota snowstorm? ❄️❄️❄️

Around here, the weather can change in a hurry. Heavy snowfall can quickly lead to slippery roads, power outages, and extra weight from snow building up on rooftops.

Take a few minutes to get prepared. Check your emergency kit, charge your phone, and make sure your vehicle is ready for winter travel—especially with a full tank of gas.

A little preparation before the snow arrives can go a long way once it starts coming down.

Stay warm, stay safe, and if you have to be on the roads, take it slow out there.

The automobile is one of the most important inventions in modern history. Before cars became common, travel was slow and limited. Most people relied on horses, railroads, or walking to get from place to place. That changed dramatically in 1886 when Karl Benz introduced the first gasoline-powered automobile.

While early vehicles were expensive and rare, the industry transformed in 1908 when Henry Ford introduced the Model T. Ford’s use of the moving assembly line drastically reduced production costs and allowed millions of families to own their first car. By the 1920s, automobiles had become a central part of everyday life.

The growth of the auto industry led to massive changes across society. Cities expanded, highways were built, and businesses adapted to a more mobile population. Gas stations, auto repair shops, and roadside services became essential parts of the economy.

Today’s vehicles are safer, more efficient, and more technologically advanced than ever before. From hybrid engines to electric vehicles and driver-assistance systems, innovation continues to move the industry forward.

The automobile didn’t just change transportation—it changed how we live, work, and connect with the world around us.

How Aviation Changed the World

Modern life would look very different without aviation. The story began in 1903 when Wilbur Wright and Orville Wright achieved the first powered flight in Kitty Hawk. Their aircraft traveled only 120 feet, but it proved that controlled, powered flight was possible.

From that moment forward, aviation evolved rapidly. By the 1920s and 1930s, airplanes were carrying passengers and mail across countries. Pioneering pilots like Amelia Earhart and Charles Lindbergh captured the world’s imagination and helped prove the reliability of long-distance flight.

The aviation industry accelerated even more during World War II, when aircraft technology advanced dramatically. Faster engines, stronger materials, and better navigation systems paved the way for the commercial airline industry that followed.

Today, aviation connects the globe. Millions of people fly daily for business, vacations, and family visits. Cargo aircraft move critical goods, medical supplies, and technology around the world.

What started with a 12-second flight has become one of the most important transportation systems in human history. Aviation truly shrunk the world and opened opportunities for global travel, trade, and innovation. ✈️

Trains have been one of the most important innovations in transportation history. The first steam locomotives appeared in the early 1800s and quickly revolutionized how goods and people moved across long distances. What once took weeks by wagon could now be done in days.

In the United States, railroads played a major role in economic development. The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad in 1869 connected the nation from coast to coast, opening new opportunities for trade, travel, and settlement. Businesses could ship products faster and more reliably, while families could travel across the country more easily than ever before.

Railroads helped industries grow, supported agriculture, and created new towns along their routes. Even today, trains remain one of the most efficient ways to move freight, carrying everything from grain and coal to automobiles and consumer goods.

The story of trains is really the story of innovation and progress. Railroads helped shape modern America and continue to power commerce and transportation today.

Today is National Napping Day, observed the Monday following the start of Daylight Saving Time. When the clocks move forward, many people lose an hour of sleep, and it’s common to feel a little more tired than usual.

This day was created as a reminder that rest is important. Studies show that even a short nap — around 20 minutes — can improve focus, productivity, and overall well-being. While most of us can’t pause our day for a nap, it’s still a good reminder to take care of ourselves and recharge when possible.

Running a business, raising a family, or simply keeping up with everyday responsibilities takes energy. Taking small breaks, staying healthy, and managing stress can make a big difference in how we perform throughout the day.

So if today feels a little slower than usual, you’re not alone. A little rest, a good cup of coffee, and a positive mindset can help get the week off to a great start!

Innovation has always driven progress in business, and few inventions changed the world more than the telephone created by Alexander Graham Bell in 1876. Before Bell’s breakthrough, businesses relied heavily on letters, messengers, and telegraphs to communicate. The telephone allowed people to speak instantly across distance, dramatically speeding up commerce, decision-making, and collaboration.

That single invention helped businesses grow faster, connect with customers more easily, and expand beyond local markets. In many ways, it laid the foundation for modern customer service, sales calls, and remote business communication.

Today we communicate through smartphones, email, video conferencing, and messaging apps, but the core idea is still the same—connecting people quickly and clearly.

It’s a great reminder that progress often begins with one innovative idea and a willingness to experiment. The tools change, but the goal remains the same: helping people stay connected and informed.
