Posted • "Bagel desert" no more, Anchorage is brimming with high-quality options, if only you know where to look.

Since the long-lived Alaska Bagel restaurant shuttered during the pandemic, Anchorage residents were left with grocery store bread aisles or a long road trip for a good bagel. Now, bagel experts across the city are filling the void, serving the doughy treats — chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside — through pop-ups, drive-thru windows and parking lot exchanges so people can get their fix.

The half-dozen small-batch bagel operations that have sprung up in the city already can't keep up with demand.
