I’m an insurance agent and the past few months have been especially trying for both Agents and customers. Rates are going up 40% in some cases and the coverage limitations are unprecedented.
Here are the facts:
1. Since 2013, FL Property Insurers have paid out $15 Billion in claims, out of that $15 Billion, 70% went to attorneys fees. ONLY 8% went to actual homeowners!
2. Every other state in the US sees on average 780 property related lawsuits a year. FL is on track for 95,000 a year.
3. Those Free Roofs are not Free!

Couple of all this with the rising cost of materials, shortage of labor, and literally every billboard or tv commercial being a roofer or attorney wanting to sue your insurance company and you’ve got the perfect storm we’re currently dealing with. Contact your elected officials and demand tort reform.
Examples:
Roofclaim . com billboards are all over turnpike. (Those black billboards with the yellow smiley faces).
"Your Insurance Attorney" advertises during every Miami Heat game.
Roofers doing Facebook ads promising free inspections and a free roof thereafter.
