The SBA now has guidance that treats qualifying creators as small businesses. On Oct. 15, it began classifying qualifying creator businesses, including podcasters, streamers and video producers, under NAICS 5121, Motion Picture and Video Industries, for its lending and contracting programs.
If the SBA sees your client's YouTube channel or podcast as a business, it's a business conversation.
Most creator businesses carry the same three risks:
1️⃣ What they've promised: brand deals, client work, bookings
2️⃣ What they publish: music, images, comments, all out in public
3️⃣ What the work runs on: gear, workspace, and the platforms that pay them
