BIG NEWS for Florida’s upcoming Real Estate market… ⬇️

Florida lawmakers voted to put a property tax elimination plan before voters this November as a proposed constitutional amendment.

The measure passed 75-26 in the House and 30-9 in the Senate.

Under the proposal:

🟢 Property taxes that fund public schools would remain in place.

🟢 Local offices such as clerks of court and supervisors of elections would continue receiving funding through property taxes.

🟢 The homestead exemption would increase from $50,000 to $150,000 in 2027 and then to $250,000 in 2028.

🟢 Lawmakers would be required to develop a path toward raising the exemption to $500,000 and beyond.

The amendment would need approval from at least 60% of voters to be added to the Florida Constitution.
