How much should you have saved for Retirement?

A recent study by NW Mutual found that Americans should aim to save $1.46 million for retirement, representing a 51% increase since 2019.

If the trend of rising retirement estimates continues at the same rate observed in recent years, it is projected that Americans will need around
$2.39 million for a comfortable retirement in 20 years.

Yet reports from The Federal Reserve’s 2022 Survey of Consumer Finances show that most Americans are not trending towards hitting this number.

Check out this visual that breaks down the average retirement savings by age:

Age: Under 35

Median: $19,000 Average: $49,000

Age: 35-44

Median: $45,000 Average: $142,000

Age: 45-54

Median: $115,000 Average: $313,000

Age: 55-64

Median: $185,000 Average: $538,000

Age: 65-74

Median: $200,000 Average: $609,000

Age: All Families

Median: $87,000 Average: $334,000

Last week, CWC had the pleasure of sponsoring and attending the annual Brian Grant Foundation ‘Shake it til we make it’ Gala!

The program was filled with inspiring stories, fun prizes, amazing food, and a great group of people with a common mission to help empower people with Parkinson's.

Collectively, we were able to raise vital funds to help the foundation continue to make an impact in the Parkinson’s community.

If you would like to support the Brian Grant Foundation, please visit their website briangrant.org

Having the proper estate planning documents can help secure your legacy, protect your assets, and avoid unnecessary taxation.

Here are the key components related to your estate plan:

1) Will: A legal document that directs the distribution of your assets upon death

2) Trust: A legal arrangement that allows you to transfer assets to beneficiaries and avoid probate

3) Power of Attorney: POA authorizes someone to make financial & healthcare decisions on your behalf if you become unable to do so on your own

4) Healthcare Directive: Also known as an advance directive, this document outlines how you would like to be medically treated in the case that you are unable to communicate your wishes

When constructed correctly, these documents will empower you to strategically control the direction of your assets and leave a legacy under your own terms.

It is crucial to consult with a wealth advisor and estate planning attorney to make sure these documents are compliant and align with your future wishes.
