📚 KNOW YOUR COVERAGE — POST #2
🚗 BODILY INJURY LIABILITY

Do you know what you’re actually paying for when you buy auto insurance?

A lot of people choose a policy based on the price and never really take the time to understand all those numbers and coverages.

That’s why we’re breaking them down! 👇

🚗 TODAY’S TOPIC: BODILY INJURY LIABILITY

So, what is Bodily Injury Liability?

Simply put, this coverage helps protect you if you are legally responsible for injuring someone else in an auto accident.

Here’s an example:

➡️ You’re involved in an accident.
➡️ You’re determined to be at fault.
➡️ The other driver or passengers are injured.
➡️ They have medical bills, lost wages, pain and suffering, or other covered damages.

Your Bodily Injury Liability coverage can help pay for covered claims and can also provide a legal defense, up to the limits of your policy.

⚠️ HERE’S WHERE THOSE NUMBERS MATTER!

You may see something on your policy that looks like:

$250,000 / $500,000

Generally, that means:

🔹 $250,000 — maximum amount available for bodily injury to one person
🔹 $500,000 — maximum amount available for bodily injury per accident

So why does this matter?

If you cause an accident and the damages are greater than your insurance limits, you could potentially be personally responsible for amounts above your coverage limits.

That’s why choosing your liability coverage based solely on the lowest premium isn't always the best choice.

Your auto insurance isn't just about protecting your vehicle. 🚗

It can also be about protecting your income, savings, assets and financial future.

💡 INSURANCE TIP:
When was the last time you looked at your liability limits?

If you aren't sure what the numbers on your policy mean, ask your insurance agent! Understanding your coverage is just as important as having coverage.

Property Damage Liability — What happens when you’re responsible for damaging someone else’s vehicle or property?

Drop it in the comments and I may cover it in an upcoming post!

📩 And if you’d like someone to review your current coverage with you, I’m always happy to help.

Coverage varies by policy, carrier, and state. This post is for general educational purposes and is not a substitute for reviewing your individual policy.

As we settle into September and the rhythms of a new season, it is a natural time to step back and ask a bigger question: What are we actually building toward?

For many business owners, the first answer that comes to mind is success. But Albert Einstein's perspective challenges us to go a little deeper. Success, he suggests, is not the goal itself. It tends to follow when we focus on something more meaningful: the value we create for others.

As you move through this month, we would love to hear from you: In your business or your work, what is one way you are focused on creating real value for the people you serve? Share it in the comments. We would love to hear your perspective!

📚 **COMING SOON: KNOW YOUR COVERAGE!** 🚗🏠

Let’s be honest… how many of us have an insurance policy but couldn’t tell you exactly what all those numbers and coverages mean? 🤔

You’re not alone!

Insurance can be confusing, and I believe you should **understand what you’re paying for and, more importantly, what is protecting you.**

That’s why I’m starting a new series called:

🔎 **KNOW YOUR COVERAGE**

Over the next several posts, I’ll be breaking down common insurance coverages in **plain English** — what they mean, what they protect, and why the limits you choose matter.

We’ll talk about things like:

🚗 Bodily Injury Liability
🚙 Property Damage Liability
🏥 Personal Injury Protection (PIP)
💥 Collision & Comprehensive
🏠 Dwelling Coverage
💧 Water Backup
☂️ Umbrella Insurance
…and more!

My goal isn't to tell you what coverage you *have* to buy. It's to help you understand your options so you can make **informed decisions about protecting yourself, your family, and your assets.**

👉 **First up: Bodily Injury Liability — and why it may be one of the most important coverages on your auto policy.**

Before your kids head out the door, make sure they know how to get to school safely, no matter how they are getting there. Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

🔵Walking to school? Stick to sidewalks, cross only at crosswalks, make eye contact with drivers before stepping into the street, and always walk in a group when possible.

🔵Riding a bike? A properly fitted helmet is non-negotiable. Remind students to ride on the right side of the road with traffic, come to a complete stop before crossing, and choose a route with minimal intersections and light traffic.

🔵Taking the bus? Students should stand at least 6 feet back from the curb when waiting for a bus, wait for the bus to come to a complete stop before boarding, and never walk behind or in front of a bus without making eye contact with the driver first.

🔵Getting dropped off? If you drive your child to school, obey school zone speed limits, follow your school's drop-off procedure, and never pass a bus that is loading or unloading children.

🔵Teen drivers? Review the basics of safe driving. This includes, but is not limited to, having all passengers wear seatbelts, putting devices away while driving, and driving the speed limit.

We hope you find these tips helpful as students transition back to school. As always, if you have any needs or questions, do not hesitate to reach out to our team. We are happy to help.

Today, our team wanted to share some key information about a life insurance policy issue we’ve seen over the years: insufficient coverage. Many people establish life insurance policies, then ignore them for years — even though their income has increased, and they’ve assumed greater financial responsibilities (such as getting married, having children, or taking on a mortgage).

Life insurance is designed to replace your income. If your paycheck supports your household, regardless of what that looks like, your coverage should reflect that responsibility. Swipe for key details on how to estimate your current life insurance needs and when it makes sense to review your policies.

If it’s been a while since you last reviewed your coverage, or if your income has changed significantly since we last spoke, our team would be happy to help you take a closer look and ensure everything still aligns with your current situation.
