UCare health insurance will be closing in 2026! Medica will be acquiring UCare's Individual and Family business line at some point in 2026. As far as we know at this time, those with UCare individual & family plans, do not need to do anything at this time, coverage will continue as planned for 2026, no changes to plans or premium rates. The expectation is that benefits and networks will remain stable for 2026, generally insurers are not allowed to make mid-year changes. Medica will be providing updates in the future to how change will look.

IMPORTANT: We are going to get over an inch of rain in the next couple of days. The last time there was rain on snow I was out of town. The water got trapped by snowdrifts in my backyard and created a lake that ended up flooding my basement. It was hell. Check your sump pump, and make sure you have a path cut through the snow so that water can get out of your yard and to the storm drains.

This is an interesting article today from the Star Tribune about Mayo Clinic and Medicare Advantage plans. Mayo Clinic is considered out-of-network for those enrolled in Medicare Advantage plans with UnitedHealthcare, HealthPartners and Allina Health Aetna. As of January Mayo Clinic has stopped taking appointments for patients with those company plans.

Mayo is in-network for Medicare Advantage plans from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, Humana, Medica and UCare.
We are in the middle of an open enrollment period until the end of March for people currently enrolled in Medicare Advantage Plans. They can switch from one to another if they have a concern about their provider network.

This does not apply to Medicare Supplement Plans.

Seniors in UnitedHealthcare plans are among those no longer getting clinic appointments due to capacity concerns. But the change also hints at a financial dispute.
