“49.2% of small businesses make it to five years.”
That’s an eye-opening statistic from the U.S. Small Business Administration. Nearly half of all small businesses never make it to their fifth anniversary. A true 50/50 shot.
Today, our agency celebrates five years in business, and we made it.
It simply would not have been possible without the support of my friends, family, my amazing wife, our loyal customers who trust us, the community we love so dearly, and our incredible team, both past and present. It is the blessing of a lifetime to do work that gives me the opportunity to make a meaningful, positive difference in the lives of others.
Although I’d been in the insurance industry for years before opening my Agency, Hurricanes Laura and Delta reignited my conviction for what I do. Insurance is NOT a commodity. It’s not about finding the cheapest price or chasing the hottest rates. It’s not about rushing through the process just to get a deal done. Getting “better coverage” only matters if someone is there to help you understand why it’s better and how it protects you when life takes an unexpected turn.
Insurance is one of the most important tools a family has to recover financially after a traumatic loss. It’s the bridge between disaster and getting back on your feet so you can continue pursuing your dreams.
Over the last five years, I’ve learned that the secret sauce in this business isn’t a secret at all. It’s the people. It’s the human element in an industry that has become increasingly focused on being fast, cheap, and transactional.
Our agency values that human element. At the end of the day, it’s all about our customers. Our purpose is to understand what’s important to you, help you protect it, and make sure you truly understand the coverage you’re choosing. We wouldn’t have it any other way.
I’ve also learned that the secret to leadership isn’t really a secret either. Leadership is asking yourself every day, “Because I was in this person’s life, did they accomplish something they never thought possible?” That’s a question I try to live by, and I pray it continues to define our business for years to come.
Five years in, our commitment hasn’t changed. We’ll continue to grow, adapt, improve, and compete to be the very best because that’s who we are.
Thank you to our customers for trusting us, to my team for constantly pushing yourselves to grow, to my family for your unwavering support, and to my beautiful wife, who sees every high and every low behind the scenes and continues to be my rock.
I can’t wait to see what the next five years hold, and the five after that, as long as the Good Lord allows.
Here’s to five years, and to being part of the 49.2%.
