Freeze Warning Preparation Tips
A hard freeze is in the forecast, and a few simple steps now can help protect your home and prevent avoidable damage.
Before temperatures drop, consider the following:

Pipes & Plumbing
• Insulate exposed pipes in garages, attics, and exterior walls
• Let faucets drip slowly during extended freezing temperatures
• Know where your main water shut-off valve is located

Sprinkler & Irrigation Systems
• Turn off sprinkler systems
• Drain exposed lines if possible
• Cover outdoor faucets and backflow devices

Pools & Outdoor Equipment
• Ensure freeze-protection systems are turned on and functioning
• Cover exposed pumps and pool equipment

Pets & Plants
• Bring pets indoors or provide warm, dry shelter
• Cover or move sensitive plants indoors

If You’ll Be Away
• Consider shutting off the water supply
• Ask a neighbor or friend to check on your home

Vacant or Secondary Homes
