We just spent a couple days at Disney World and I want to share some things we did to save money, and also some things we learned that we will do to save money next time!
Stay on Disney property but choose the budget resort option- we chose the cheapest resort- All Star Music resort and it was still nice and we got to utilize all of the perks of staying on Disney property.
Skip the park hopper option- you save quite a bit by just visiting one park per day. Spend the entire day if you can!
Food! This is a big one. Pack lots of your own snacks and consider packing lunches. Disney lets you bring in your own food which is super helpful. The food is very expensive and some meals we had were not good and not filling. Super disappointing! We will definitely be more strategic with food next time.
Buy light up toys, mouse ears, etc. ahead of time to surprise your kids with. Even though ours kids still got a couple toys from the gift shop, we were able to avoid the over priced bubble wands, balloons, mouse ears, etc. by getting these things ahead of time.
Take refillable water bottles! You can ask for cups of ice water at any food place and they give it to you for free. Then we just poured it in our Yeti’s. I can’t imagine how much we would have spent on bottled water if we wouldn’t have done this!
We saved a lot of money by only doing 2 parks this time - Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios. We felt this was perfect due to the age of our kids (2.5 & 4.5). Doing all 4 parks would have been too overwhelming, and obviously much more expensive!
Cost Breakdown:
3 nights at the Disney All Star Music Resort and 2 park days was $1,200
Food - around $300
It was a wonderful vacation full of memories and fun and it didn’t break the bank!
If you’ve got a Disney World vacation on your radar, research to get an approximate cost for your family and start saving money each month so you can pay for it in cash!
Any Disney saving tips I missed? Let me know in the comments!
