The storm is over, but don’t go into full “I’ll handle it myself” mode just yet.

Before you grab the chainsaw, rake, or pickup truck, take photos of any damage and the fallen trees or branches that caused it. If damage is found later, having those photos can be incredibly helpful.

Remember when our parents told us not to talk to strangers, always lock the door, and never trust a handwritten note from someone we didn’t know? Same idea here. Before a contractor starts work, ask for a Certificate of Insurance—and make sure it comes directly from their insurance agent. A little verification now can save a lot of headaches later.

Meet Valerie Dunnam – Commercial Lines Account Manager.

With an incredible 44 years in the insurance industry, Valerie brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our commercial department. Her insurance journey began in high school through a program called Project Invest, and she’s been helping clients protect what matters ever since.

When she’s not taking care of clients, Valerie enjoys just about anything involving water, from relaxing by it to jumping right in. A lifelong traveler, one of her favorite adventures was her honeymoon in Belize, though narrowing down a favorite destination is no easy task!

Valerie and her husband have a wonderfully blended family, including children, stepchildren, and grandchildren who keep life exciting. She’s also a proud pet parent to Rocky and Roxy, who undoubtedly run the household.

A fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Los Angeles Dodgers, and her grandsons’ Nevada Reno Wolves teams, Valerie loves cheering on her favorites whenever she gets the chance.

What does Valerie enjoy most about insurance? The people. She loves the relationships built along the way and appreciates that insurance knowledge can open doors almost anywhere.
