🚗💳 “I paid off my car… so why did my credit score drop?!”

First—don’t panic. This is actually normal and usually temporary 👇🏽

✨ Here’s what happened:

✔️ Account Closed
When you paid off your car loan, that account was closed. Fewer active accounts can slightly lower your score.

✔️ Credit Mix Changed
Lenders like to see a mix (credit cards + loans). Removing an installment loan (like a car) can shift that balance.

✔️ Payment History Impact Slows
That car loan was helping build your positive payment history every month. Now it’s no longer actively boosting your score.

✔️ Average Age of Credit May Shift
If your car loan was one of your older accounts, closing it can slightly affect your credit age.

💡 The GOOD NEWS:
This drop is usually small and temporary! Your score can bounce back (and even improve) with consistent habits.

✨ What to do next:
• Keep credit card balances LOW
• Pay everything on time ⏰
• Don’t open too many new accounts at once
• Let your credit age and build

Right after the deadline passes. Miss it, and the IRS starts stacking interest (daily!) and penalties on anything you owe.
💸 What you need to know:
Interest: Compounds daily on unpaid taxes
𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐞-𝐭𝐨-𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲:: ~0.5% per month
𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐟𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐲:: A steep 5% per month (up to 25%) — way worse than not paying!
💡 Good news:
Expecting a refund? You’ve got up to 3 years to file and claim it
Need more time? File an extension and push your deadline to October (just remember: it’s extra time to file, not to pay)

How to check Refund?
•𝐅𝐞𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥➡️https://www.irs.gov/wheres-my-refund

You enter federal ONLY. Look on your 1040, line 35a. Thus is amount before your preparer took out their fees. Refunded to you. Enter that amount on irs website

•𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 ➡️https://revenue.louisiana.gov/refund/ Enter your state amount ( copy)

See your personalized refund date as soon as the IRS processes your tax return and approves your refund. See your status starting around 24 hours after you e-file or 4 weeks after you mail a paper return.
