A 401(k) plan can stay with the same providers for years while the business changes around it. The service that worked five years ago may not fit what you need today.
Choosing a 401(k) advisor takes more than comparing fees. A few questions worth asking:
1. How often will you meet with us, and what happens between meetings?
2. Who leads enrollment meetings and employee education?
3. Who coordinates with our recordkeeper and TPA when questions come up?
4. How do you benchmark our plan's fees?
The right answers depend on your business. Employees spread across several job sites may need more hands-on enrollment support. A small HR team may need an advisor who takes an active role with the plan's providers.
