Saving for a down payment can seem daunting … but it doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy life — 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗽𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲!
Ask yourself: how much $ do I have now, how much $ do I need, how soon do I want this to happen … and are my daily actions in alignment with that timeline?
1️⃣ Create a weekly budget and only withdraw a certain amount of cash for spending — hide the cards, disable Apple Pay.
2️⃣ Make your own coffee at home instead of a daily coffee trip.
3️⃣ Dine at restaurants less or go to a BYOB — plan out your meals and evenings.
4️⃣ Open a separate savings account and create recurring automatic transfers. Pro tip: choose a high yield online savings account unrelated to any other accounts and forget it exists (paperless statements, don’t open).
5️⃣ Work a side gig such as serving, bartending, Instacart, Rover, and explore any other ways you can find extra money by doing what you love in your spare time.
6️⃣ Pay down high-interest credit cards / transfer balances.
