Someone reminded me lately, when I was complaining about losing my brother a few years ago and going on about how much I miss him, that you can't predict the future and you cannot know when you will lose a loved one BUT to be practical, you can plan for the future and the loss of a loved one with a Pre-Need Funeral plan and that is true. My brother had his in place and what a relief for the family.
I miss Tommy every day, but I look back and I am thankful he planned ahead.

Fixed annuities
Fixed annuities aren’t as risky as variable annuities because the investment risk is with the insurance company, not you. If investment performance is more than what the company needs to pay the guarantees, the difference is added to the company’s surplus. If performance is low, the insurance company bears the loss.
Fixed annuities guarantee a minimum interest rate, generally between 1% and 3%. The company might pay a higher interest rate than the guaranteed interest rate.
The insurance company determines the interest rates, which can change monthly, quarterly, semiannually, or annually. Be sure you understand how and when the interest rate changes before you buy.

Annuities are on my mind today. I saw an article last week from a financial broker and there must have been a ton of questions that would need to be answered in order to begin to put a retirement package into place. A retirement package that will deposit monthly income into your bank.
To work up an annuity for someone, I would need age, primary investment goal and how much do you want to put into the annuity to open it.

I do not put savings into the stock market. I don't like to see money I save on the losing end of the deal.
I like to see my money stay steady or climb up the ladder.
