La Jara Trading Post

🎉 Congratulations to Jerry Shugart, La Jara Trading Post’s Employee of the Month!
Jerry has been part of our team for more than nine years, and he’s one of the hardest workers you’ll ever meet. He’s our main guy in the yard, but you’ll also find him helping customers at the counter. Wherever he’s needed, Jerry steps in and goes above and beyond for our customers and his coworkers.
Thank you, Jerry, for everything you do. We’re lucky to have you on our team!

First Fridays with Visit Alamosa are always a blast! We had a great time getting out in the community, and the leaf blower car races were a huge hit with the kids!

Thanks to everyone who stopped by and joined the fun. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Temporary Closure in Memory of Jerry Anderson

La Jara Trading Post will be closed on Monday, September 21, as our family and team gather to honor the life of Jerry Anderson—our founder, father, and a devoted member of the San Luis Valley community.

Those who would like to pay their respects are welcome to attend the funeral service:
Monday, September 21, at 11:00 a.m.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints – Manassa Ward
311 Main Street, Manassa, Colorado

Jerry owned La Jara Trading Post from 1985 until his retirement in 2008 and spent 45 years serving others through the hardware and lumber business.

His commitment to the community extended far beyond the store. Over the years, he served on the Alamosa School Board, the Manassa Town Board, the Manassa Saddle Club Board of Directors, as mayor of Manassa, and as chairman of the Conejos County Hospital Board. He also dedicated many years to serving through his church.

Thank you for your understanding and for keeping the Anderson family in your thoughts as we celebrate his life and mourn his passing.
