• Use your horn in low visibility
• Stay calm and wait for safer conditions

Lightning nearby means danger—stay low, avoid metal and electronics, and keep everyone inside the boat. If you can hear thunder, you’re within striking distance.

Saltwater: Zinc or aluminum
Freshwater: Magnesium
Both: Aluminum (best all-around option)

Boat Claim: What Was the Repair Cost?

A 2014 22’ Sun Tracker 22 DLX was damaged during Hurricane Helene on September 27, 2024. The damage could not be inspected until January 3, 2025, because the boat was on a lift and the lake level was five feet lower than normal. The Bimini frame, railing, seats, and flooring were affected, with thick sediment deposits found on the seats and flooring.
