With a career rooted in public service, cooperative business leadership, and community advocacy, Brian brings a member‑first mindset to MCU’s Board. His experience navigating complex organizations and championing the needs of others helps ensure Marine Credit Union continues to put people at the center of every decision.
Q: What aspect of MCU’s mission are you most passionate about?
A: “I’m excited about working with a member‑driven organization and a cooperative business model. As part of the governance team, I’m focused on always putting our members first.”
Q: What do you think is the biggest challenge facing credit unions today?
A: “There’s an incredible amount of competition in the financial world — from neighboring banks and credit unions to much larger online organizations. Getting the word out about what we offer is critical, especially with so many different communication channels to navigate.”
Q: What professional achievement are you most proud of?
A: “Serving as a Wisconsin State Senator was a significant part of my life, and I’m proud of having the opportunity to work on many lasting achievements for our region.”
Q: Who or what inspires you professionally?
A: “Public service is incredibly important to me. I feel a strong obligation to give back to my community as a thank you for the many rewards, I’ve experienced living here. As Churchill said, we make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”
Q: What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
A: “Give thanks in all circumstances—there’s always something to be grateful for, no matter how dark times may be.”
Q: Share a fun fact about yourself that most people don’t know.
A: “I’m a singer! I’ve sung at lots of weddings, funerals, and with community and church choirs.”
