How do I accept/decline an offered Student Loan this year???

We have several new systems this year and one major change is that students will have to manually accept their Student Loans on their new MyKU Self-Service. Please follow this guide to accept or decline your offer:https://www.kutztown.edu/Departments-Offices/A-F/FinancialAid/Direct%20Loan%20Steps.pdf

-If you take no action, and leave the loan on offered, it will not disburse.
-If you accept the loan, and do not complete the federal requirements, it will not disburse.
-If you have accepted the incorrect amount of the loan, previously declined, or require a change, you will be required to submit a loan change form to the FinAid office.

The Financial Aid offer is determined by the Student Aid Index generated from FAFSA. These offers are estimated still, the official PA State Grant may not be available until September for all students. Federal Direct Loans are posted on offered status and would need to be accepted on the student's MyKU portal. Bills will be posted by the Student Accounts office in mid July to provide your charges. FAFSA Workshop
Financial Aid Services is aware there are many concerns and questions regarding the updated 2024-25 FAFSA. We are hosting several workshops to provide information, guidance and assistance with these changes. Please complete the registration form to attend one of our workshops taking place in the Boehm Science Building (BH) in the following weeks:
- 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 5, 145 BH Lecture Hall.
- 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 7, 145 BH Lecture Hall.
- 11 a.m. to noon Tuesday, March 26, 145 BH Lecture Hall.
- 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, April 4, 145 BH Lecture Hall.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA is now available, however there have been technical issues with the application. The Financial Aid office will not receive your FAFSA information until March from Department of Education. This will affect award letters for our incoming Freshmen students. The deadline for PA State Grant, for all students, is still May 1, 2024.

One-time Federal Student Loan Debt Relief
Eligible borrowers can get a full or partial discharge of loans up to $20,000. The application is now available on the Federal Student Aid website.

On August 24, 2022, the Biden administration announced a one-time federal student loan cancellation, and a final extension on the student loan payment pause until December 31, 2022, with payments resuming in January 2023.
