If you experience property loss, here's what you need to do:
1. Make sure everyone is safe.
2. Call first responders if needed.
3. Secure your property -- cover damaged areas or arrange for contractors to do so to reduce ongoing damages.
4. Photograph the damages.
5. File your claim.

Most insurance companies have online portals for filing claims or 800 numbers to call. This is the fastest way toward claims processing and resolution.
