Community Development is one of the most documentation-heavy, exam-sensitive parts of CRA compliance, and most teams still manage it across spreadsheets, shared drives, and email.

We've officially launched the RiskExec Community Development module to replace that scramble with a centralized, examiner-ready system of record. ✨

Manage Community Development loans, investments, and services in one place, align activity to CRA purposes and assessment areas at entry, and monitor performance through dashboards, goal tracking, and geographic views.

CRA, HMDA, and Community Development data now live in one platform.

The Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) is more than a compliance checkbox. It reflects how financial institutions demonstrate a genuine commitment to low- and moderate-income communities, and how regulators measure that commitment in practice.

Our latest guide gives CRA and compliance leaders a practical breakdown of what drives exam outcomes: assessment areas, community development activities, lending and investment performance, and the data governance that ties it all together.

The institutions that perform well are not simply the ones that do the most. They are the ones that can clearly connect their activities to documented local needs and articulate that impact in a way regulators can follow.

"January 1, 2027 is the real deadline, not 2029. Institutions need a full year of clean data before they can submit anything. The time to set up your system is now, and RiskExec is ready to support that." -- Anurag Agarwal

The CFPB finalized revisions to Section 1071 this month, narrowing the rule's scope and establishing a uniform compliance timeline.

Here's what changed:

➡️ Reporting threshold raised to 1,000 originations
➡️ "Small business" definition narrowed to $1M in annual gross revenue
➡️ Fewer required data fields
➡️ Data collection begins January 1, 2028

The revisions reduce the reporting burden for some lenders. They do not eliminate the need to prepare now.

The CFPB proposed revisions to Section 1071 to refine small business lending data collection under Regulation B. Click to learn more.
