This week's Ask Kim comes from a reader facing something no one plans for. Her husband has been diagnosed with a chronic illness, and their financial picture has suddenly shifted at a stage in life when retirement should be coming into view.

The good news is that there is time to plan. Read my full response here: https://yourplacetoflourish.com/ask-kim-preparing-for-chronic-illness/ πŸ’›

I came across an article that made my heart ache a little. About 40% of people in their 30s have no retirement savings. If that's you, I want you to know something: you're not failing. πŸ’™

Life is expensive. Housing costs are crushing. Healthcare isn't affordable. Student loans are still there. When you're doing your best just to get through the month, retirement savings feels like a luxury you can't afford.

But here's what I want you to hear: it's not too late. Even just a small amount saved in your 30s can grow significantly by the time you're 65, thanks to time and interest.

You don't need to have it all figured out. You don't need a huge amount. You just need to take that first small step, and I promise it gets easier from there. 🌱

If you're feeling overwhelmed about where to start, that's exactly why I'm here. Let's build something realistic for your life right now.

In my first short video, I'm sharing two things I wish more young people heard early: why student loans deserve a second thought, and how to use a credit card wisely without letting it use you. πŸ’›

Summer is calling, and you deserve to answer. But before you book that trip, a little planning goes a long way.

Build your vacation into your budget before you build your itinerary. Know what you can spend without touching savings or carrying a balance home. That number is your real vacation budget.

Rest and fun are part of a life well lived. Plan for them the same way you plan for everything else that matters. If you'd like help making room for the things you enjoy, let's talk.

This week's Ask Kim hits close to home for a lot of people.

A reader recently lost their job, and they're wondering if cashing out their 401(k) is the right move to buy themselves a little more breathing room.

It's a question worth thinking through carefully before making any moves.

Memorial Day holds a special place in my heart. I'm reminded today of the deep sacrifice behind this holiday and of the families who carry that loss.

However you're spending the day, I hope you find a moment to remember those who gave everything for this country.

Q1 is in the books, and the market had plenty to say. πŸ“Š

There's encouraging news, a few things worth watching, and some good reminders about why staying the course matters.

I've put together our quarterly market update, and I think it's worth a few minutes of your time. If anything raises questions about your own plan, I'd love to talk.

To every graduate this season: you did it. Now the real adventure begins. πŸŽ“

A few things I wish more young people knew starting out: your income is your most powerful financial tool, so protect it. Student loans have a way of following you longer than expected, so avoid them if possible. And don't wait until you "have more money" to start saving. Start small. Start now. πŸ’›

The best financial foundation isn't complicated. It's consistent. Congratulations, and welcome to the next chapter. 🌱

Happy Earth Day! 🌍

Living in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains reminds me daily how lucky we are to be surrounded by such beauty. The choices we make today shape what we leave behind.

I'm grateful to call this place home. πŸ’š

Financial Literacy Month continues with a tip that's especially important after major life changes. πŸ’™

Tip #3: Understand Your Benefits and Accounts
Do you know what retirement accounts you have? Who's listed as beneficiary on your life insurance? What happens to your 401(k) if you change jobs?

Too many people don't fully understand their own financial assets, or they forget to update beneficiaries after divorce, loss, or other major transitions.

Take time to review what you have, where it is, and who it goes to. πŸ“‹

Financial literacy means knowing your own financial picture inside and out. 🌱
