We wanted to share a local scam to watch out for - imposters acting like KUB - read more. Be alert if you receive a call or text from KUB.

We have received reports of scammers threatening to disconnect service via phone call.

KUB does not call or text you to threaten disconnection. Scammers may try to convince you that they have access to your KUB account information, but they do not. Do not give out personal information or click links in text messages from someone claiming to represent KUB.

You can check the status of your account and make payments at kub.org/account. Do not share your login information with anyone on the phone.

Scam attempts tend to peak as we head into the holiday season, and scammers have plenty of opportunities to make their messages look like part of your normal routine.

Knowing what to watch for now can help you approach those moments prepared. Here are three things to keep top of mind:

▪️ Recognize the warning signs. Urgent or threatening language, requests for secrecy, unusual payment instructions, and unexpected requests for personal information should give you a reason to stop and verify.

▪️ Protect your accounts. Enable account alerts, monitor transactions regularly, use strong, unique passwords, and keep your login credentials private.

▪️ Know what we’ll never ask for. We will never contact you asking for online banking login credentials, account reset codes, your PIN, debit or credit card numbers, Social Security number, or account information.
