Veterans make up an unacceptable percentage of the population experiencing homelessness nationwide.

Operation Hero's Hill just took a massive step toward changing that reality in Knox County.

This week, we attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony for this new community off Liberty Street. Operation Hero’s Hill brought together Knox County students, skilled trades professionals, local businesses, community partners, and hundreds of volunteers to build 20 tiny homes, helping participants gain real-world trade skills while providing safe housing for the men and women who defended our country.

After 50 years in banking and 31 years with Home Federal, David Reynolds will retire as CEO at the end of 2026.

David’s leadership helped shape us into the bank we are today, grounded in exceptional service, strong relationships, and a deep commitment to East Tennessee. We’re grateful for the decades he has invested in our customers, employees, and community.

Thankfully, he won’t be going far. David will continue serving as Chairman of our Board.

President Jonathan Mayfield will become CEO in 2027. A Knoxville native with more than 20 years at Home Federal, Jonathan knows this bank and the community we serve, and we’re confident in the leadership he’ll bring to the role.

Every day, the McNabb Center steps in during some of the most difficult moments in a person’s life. Through mental health, substance use, social, and victim services, they help children, adults, and families find the support they need.

Today, East Tennessee and the world mourn the loss of a true legend—Dolly Parton.

From her humble beginnings in the Great Smoky Mountains to becoming a beloved global icon, Dolly never forgot where she came from. Her extraordinary talent, generous spirit and unwavering love for her community touched countless lives and made all of East Tennessee proud.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, she placed books into the hands and hearts of millions of children, inspiring a lifelong love of reading. Through countless other donations and acts of kindness—including support for education, healthcare, disaster relief and families in need—Dolly quietly made the world a better place.

Although the world knew her as a legendary singer, songwriter, actress and humanitarian, we were especially proud to call her one of our own.

Dolly’s music will live on, her kindness will continue to inspire us, and her legacy will forever remain in the heart of Tennessee.

Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, friends and all who loved her.

For decades, these Tennessee suffragists organized, educated, and advocated for a future they might never fully experience themselves. Their persistence helped carry Tennessee to its historic role as the final state needed to ratify the 19th Amendment.

On Women’s Equality Day, we honor the courage it took to challenge the status quo and the women whose determination left a permanent mark on Tennessee and our nation.
