Crews are presently battling 100+ acre brush fire in Rocky Top:

Per WVLT: “ROCKY TOP, Tenn. - Several agencies responded to a large brush fire in Anderson County Wednesday afternoon. Thursday morning, the fire was sitting at just over 106 acres and is 40% contained, emergency officials said… the fire is estimated to be 40 acres in size and not contained as of 5:40 p.m. [yesterday]. By 9:10 p.m., it had grown to 80 acres and was 25% contained. Overnight, Anderson County EMA officials said, it grew to 106 acres… In addition to the numerous fire departments that responded, the Anderson County Emergency Management Agency and the Division of Forestry are also on the scene.”

Thanks to incredible diligence by KFD the 10-acre brush fire was 100% contained in Sharp's Ridge area, near Fountain City yesterday.

Per WBIR, “KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — People in the Fountain City area could see a plume of smoke rise from the Sharp's Ridge area Tuesday afternoon, after a brush fire ignited near some towers.
The ridge is located near Fountain City, and the smoke could be seen from WBIR's studios. The Knoxville Fire Department said it was responding to a brush fire on Broadcast Way and said crews with the Tennessee Division of Forestry were helping contain it and put the fire out.

A KFD spokesperson said no structures were threatened and said no towers on Sharp's Ridge were threatened. The Tennessee Division of Forestry said the fire was around 10 acres large and was 100% contained at around 10:20 p.m.

KFD said crews with the state would remain on the ridge throughout the evening and likely morning hours. Those in the area will still see active fire and smoke due to the ongoing operations of crews at the site.”

The fire was spotted on WBIR tower cameras Tuesday afternoon at around 5:20 p.m.

Today, another literal truckload of hope and care was sent up to Northeast Tennessee and Western Carolina! Packed with backpacks, baby formula, diapers, tarps, food, and all the essentials you can imagine to support those still recovering from Hurricane Helene.

A special and massive thank you to the amazing Mary Dixon - State Farm Agent in Florida, who embarked on a 26-hour round trip from FL to TN with her car packed to the brim—full of not just supplies, but love and compassion for those in need. Mary, you are beyond incredible. Your dedication is a true light in this world!

In this difficult time, we stand with our neighbors in Northeast Tennessee, who are coping with the heartbreaking loss of life, homes and critical resources like water and power. We're sending water bottles to help meet urgent needs. If you want to help East Tennessee flood victims too, here are 14 places to donate or provide supplies:
