3 Things Medicare Beneficiaries Should Check Before AEP

šŸ“… **Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is October 15–December 7**, and what you have today may not be the best fit for next year.

Before AEP gets underway, here are **3 things every Medicare beneficiary should check:**

**1ļøāƒ£ Your medications šŸ’Š**
Check your current prescriptions against your plan’s 2027 formulary. Look for changes in coverage, tiers, prior authorization, quantity limits, and your estimated out-of-pocket costs.

**2ļøāƒ£ Your doctors & hospitals šŸ„**
Make sure the doctors, specialists, hospitals, and other providers you regularly use will still be in-network next year if you have a Medicare Advantage plan.

**3ļøāƒ£ Your total costs—not just the premium šŸ’°**
Don't choose a plan based solely on the monthly premium. Look at deductibles, copays, coinsurance, drug costs, maximum out-of-pocket exposure, and benefits that are important to you.

šŸ’” **One of the biggest Medicare mistakes is assuming that because your plan worked well this year, it will automatically be the best choice next year.**

Your **Annual Notice of Change (ANOC)** will outline important changes to your plan for the upcoming year. **Your plan should send you an ANOC in September**, so take a few minutes to review it before making your decision.

If you have questions about your Medicare options for 2027, I'm happy to help you understand what has changed and what to look for.

šŸ“Œ **Save this post and share it with a friend or family member who has Medicare!**

With June 6th recognized as Visually Impaired People Day, now is a good time to discuss how Medicare approaches vision care.

Original Medicare (also known as Medicare Parts A and B) is designed primarily as medical insurance. That means coverage typically applies to the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions affecting the eyes, rather than to routine vision care. However, Medicare Advantage plans usually do include coverage for routine eye exams.

Swipe for a brief overview of what Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage plans cover when it comes to vision care and eye health.

If you’d ever like to review how your current Medicare coverage addresses vision care, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team. We are always here to be a resource for you.

Medicare’s Annual Enrollment Period (October 15–December 7) is coming up, and it’s a great time to double-check that your coverage still fits your needs. Here are five frequently asked questions that come up this time of year:

What changes can I make during Annual Enrollment? You can switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan, change from one Advantage plan to another, or modify your Part D prescription coverage.
What’s the difference between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage? Original Medicare is government-managed and typically paired with separate drug coverage and optional Medigap. Medicare Advantage plans are offered by private insurers and often bundle medical and drug benefits, with some including extras like dental or vision.
Do I need to do anything if I’m happy with my current plan? Even if you’re satisfied, it may be a good idea to review your coverage. Premiums, provider networks, and drug formularies can change each year.
When can I learn about next year’s plans? Information for next year’s plans is available beginning in October. Call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit Medicare.gov.
What if I miss the Annual Enrollment deadline? Unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period due to a major life event, you’ll need to wait until next year’s window to make changes.
