Freezing temperatures are right around the corner! Let’s take a little time to prep, so we can save you from a major insurance headache later.

Home & Auto Winter Prep Checklist 🏡🚗:
🏡Drip the faucets: Keep a slow trickle of water running to prevent frozen, burst pipes.
🏡Test the heat: Turn on your furnace now to ensure its working smoothly before you actually need it.
🏡Seal the gaps: Check windows and doors for drafts. Caulking or weather-stripping keeps the heat in and prevents freezing.

🚗Tire pressure & tread: Cold air drops tire pressure, make sure your tires are properly inflated and have enough tread for slick roads.
🚗Emergency kit: Keep a blanket, flashlight, jumper cables, and an ice scraper in your trunk just in case.

What Does "Structure Prep" Mean During a Wildfire?

When a wildfire is approaching a community, firefighters don't just wait for the flames to arrive, they begin structure preparation. Firefighters will begin surveying structures, remove potential hazards and secure a water supply. This gives homes the best possible chance of surviving if the fire reaches them.

Here's what you can do to help:

Remove fuels around the home: Clear dry grass, leaves, pine needles, firewood, patio furniture, and anything else that could easily ignite near the structure.

Create defensible space:
Trim vegetation, remove small shrubs next to structures, and eliminate "ladder fuels" that could carry flames from the ground into trees or onto roofs.
Secure windows and doors:
Make sure that windows and doors are closed, this prevents embers from entering the structure.
