Day 14

I’ve been in this business for thirty years, and one thing I learned early is this:

Trust what you see before everyone else sees it.

When technology started changing the industry — computers, new systems, a different way of working — a lot of people pushed back.

They thought it would make the work less personal. I saw something different.

I saw time opening up. Better conversations. More room to actually take care of people.

Not everyone agreed.

But I moved anyway and started building differently before the shift was obvious.

Because I’ve learned something over time:

If you wait for agreement, you’re already late. You have to trust what you see… and let the results catch up.

At Kelli A. Young and Associates, that instinct hasn’t changed.

We’re always building for what’s next.

Day 12

By my mid-30s I had already had three surgeries.

My doctors were direct: another resection could mean a colostomy bag.

Surgery was no longer the solution — taking control of the disease was.

At the time I was running an agency, raising two young kids, and carrying a level of stress I had normalized so completely I barely noticed it.

Until my body forced me to.

The turning point came at a work seminar when I realized I had completely overlooked something essential: work-life balance.

Not as a buzzword. As a survival requirement.

So I restructured my life.

And slowly, my body began to heal.

I share this because many high-performing people live the way I once did — pushing hard and ignoring the signals.

Your health isn’t separate from your success.

It’s the foundation of it.

Day 11

Someone is always watching how you handle the hard days. For me… it was my kids.

Day 10

You don’t wait to be recognized. You build something that can’t be ignored.

Day 9

Real trust isn’t built when things are easy. It’s built in the moments when everything isn’t.

Day 8

Life doesn’t wait until you’re ready. That’s why what you build — and how you protect it — matters.

Day 7

There’s a version of you who had no idea what they were doing…and still showed up anyway.

That version of you built more than you realize.

Day 6

For the first few years of my career, I had something to prove.

When you enter an industry your father built his name in… when every introduction starts with “this is Paul’s daughter”… you carry a quiet fire that says, I’ll show you I belong here.

That energy can take you a long way.

It gets you out of bed early.
It gets you on the phone.
It gets you into strangers’ living rooms with your reference manuals and your determination not to be dismissed.

But somewhere along the way, something shifted. The motivation changed.

It stopped being about proving something to other people. It started being about building something that was genuinely mine.

That’s the difference between working from fear and working from vision.

Fear says: I have to prove I’m good enough.
Vision says: I’m building something that matters.

And that shift changes everything.

If you’re in the early stages of building something and you’re still running on “I’ll show them” — that’s okay. Use it.

Just know there’s something stronger waiting on the other side of it.

Build for yourself. That fire burns longer.

Day 5

Thirty years in business teaches you a lot about why you started.

For a long time, I was trying to prove something — that I could do it, that I belonged, that I could build something of my own.

I never said that out loud back then.

But it showed up in how hard I worked…how much responsibility I carried…and how much it mattered that I got things right.

And somewhere along the way, something shifted. I realized I wasn’t building a career to prove anything anymore.

I was building something I genuinely cared about.

Something that felt like mine.

That’s when the work started to feel different.

Not easier — but more honest.

I wasn’t chasing approval anymore. I was building from ownership. And that changes everything.

If you're looking for an agency that leads from that same place - one that takes ownership of your protection the way we take ownership of everything we build — we'd love to connect.

Kelli A. Young and Associates we're here when you're ready.
