I hate that I’ll miss A Family Feast Restaurant ‘s Grand Opening this evening, but I’ll be out of town this week attending a conference. Even though I can’t be there in person, I’m excited to celebrate this exciting milestone and hope our community comes out to show their support!

I encourage everyone to stop by and help welcome this new business to our community. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony begins at 5:15 PM.

🥔 Did you know Edwards County is home to one of the largest potato farms in the State?

This week I was blessed with the opportunity to tour the Kansas Potatoes Ltd. facility during harvest season, and it was incredible to see firsthand the hard work, technology, and dedication that goes into producing potatoes that are shipped to stores all across the United States.

Kansas Potatoes is a 5th-generation family farm. During harvest, the entire family comes home to help—working side by side to keep the operation running. It’s a wonderful reminder of the values that make rural communities like ours so special: hard work, family, and a commitment to feeding people across the country.

This morning, my family and I are enjoying some Edwards County Potatoes for breakfast, and I’ll definitely have a new appreciation for every bite.

Edwards County Economic Development would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Black Bear Charitable Foundation for its incredible generosity and commitment to our community.

To celebrate the successful partnership surrounding Lewis BioFuels, LLC, the renewable natural gas (digester) project serving Blue Sky Farms' Twin Circle Dairy, the Black Bear Charitable Foundation donated an incredible $105,000 to 13 local organizations and nonprofits throughout the Edwards County area.

Black Bear Environmental Assets provided the research, consulting, and project development services for the Lewis BioFuels project. As a company partially owned by the Black Bear Charitable Foundation, they wanted to express their appreciation to Lewis BioFuels, Blue Sky Farms, and the Edwards County community for the opportunity to be part of such an exciting and impactful project.

This generous investment is about much more than dollars—it is a testament to what can happen when businesses choose to invest not only in a project, but also in the communities they call home.

On behalf of Edwards County Economic Development and the 13 recipient organizations, thank you to Black Bear Charitable Foundation for your generosity and for believing in the future of Edwards County. Your investment will have a lasting impact for years to come.

🎉 Great News for Edwards & Hodgeman Counties! 🎉

Edwards County Economic Development is excited to announce that we have been awarded a 2027 Chronic Disease Risk Reduction (CDRR) Community Grant from the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE)!

For nearly 10 years, Edwards County and Hodgeman County have partnered together through the CDRR program to improve the health and well-being of our communities. This long-standing collaboration has allowed us to build strong partnerships, expand prevention efforts, and create lasting positive change across both counties.

This funding will support local initiatives focused on to***co prevention and cessation, increasing physical activity, improving nutrition, and creating healthier communities throughout Edwards and Hodgeman Counties.

One of the things I'm most excited about is the continued investment in youth prevention efforts. Together, Edwards County and Hodgeman County have built outstanding RESIST chapters at the high school level and have now expanded those efforts into our junior high schools. It has been incredible to watch our students become leaders in promoting healthy choices and making a positive impact in their schools and communities.

We are honored to be one of only 15 organizations across Kansas selected to receive this funding and look forward to continuing this important work alongside our many community partners.

Thank you to our schools, volunteers, local organizations, and everyone who has helped make this partnership so successful over the past decade. Here's to another year of building healthier communities together!

🎉 Exciting News for Edwards County! 🎉

Edwards County Economic Development is thrilled to announce the very first recipient of the Edwards County Roof Grant Program!

Congratulations to Henry Laird Library in Belpre on being awarded a $5,000 Roof Grant to help preserve and improve this treasured community landmark.

We believe this program will have a lasting impact across Edwards County by helping preserve the buildings that tell our story, strengthen our local businesses, and invest in the future of our communities.

We can't wait to see the improvements at Henry Laird Library and look forward to celebrating many more projects through this program in the years ahead. There is still $10,000 available this year.
