Best practice would be to take a look at your average expenses and budget and find out a realistic monthly payment amount that you would be comfortable making. Despite the current mortgage interest rate environment, there are quite a few young people that have made their way into their first home. Gen-Z's homeownership rate in 2022, at the age of 25, is keeping up with other generations when they were the same age. 30% of Gen-Z's 25 year olds owned their home in 2022. The home ownership rates for other generations when they were at the same age were around the same amount with 28% of millennials, 27% of Gen Xers & 32% of Baby Boomers.
