The Kingston Uptown Business Association (KUBA), in partnership with local mainstays Ryan & Ryan Insurance and Erie Insurance, is thrilled to announce the launch of the "Best Facade Award." This new initiative features a $5,000 grand prize dedicated to the most impressive facade restoration within the historic Uptown Kingston business district.
The award specifically targets property and business owners whose buildings were previously covered by the Pike Plan canopy. By offering this substantial financial incentive, KUBA and its sponsors aim to encourage property owners to fast-track their renovation projects, ultimately enhancing the neighborhood's aesthetic appeal and honoring its rich architectural history.
"Uptown Kingston is undergoing an incredible transformation," said spokesperson John Perry for KUBA. "With the Pike Plan canopy gone, we have a unique opportunity to return these stunning buildings to their historic glory. This award is about sparking friendly competition and injecting momentum into our streetscape revitalization so residents and visitors alike can enjoy what this district was always meant to be."
How to Qualify and Enter
The contest is open to all building and business owners within the former Pike Plan footprint who are actively restoring their storefronts.
Submission Requirement: Owners must submit "before and after" photos of their completed facade restoration.
Where to Apply: Email your photo submissions directly to [email protected].
Deadline: Submissions must be received by April 23rd in Spring 2027.
Grand Prize Event – Spring 2027
The winner of the $5,000 prize will be decided by a panel of local judges who will evaluate the quality, historical accuracy, and overall impact of the restorations. The winner will be officially announced and celebrated during the KUBA-hosted Spring Fling event in the Spring of 2027.
