🌿 Beware of These Backyard Plants! 🌿

Did you know that some common backyard plants can be harmful to your family and pets? Here are a few plants to watch out for to have a safe an enjoyable summer:

1. Oleander: This beautiful flowering plant is a showstopper, but every part of it is toxic. Keep it out of reach of curious kids and pets!

2. Foxglove: Known for its tall, striking flowers, foxglove contains compounds that can affect the heart. Admire from afar!

3. Lily of the Valley: Its sweet scent and delicate flowers are deceiving. Ingesting even a small amount can cause serious health issues.

4. Rhododendron: These vibrant blooms are a garden favorite, but they contain toxins that can be harmful if ingested.

5. Castor Bean Plant: While it adds a tropical vibe to your garden, its seeds contain ricin, a highly toxic compound.

6. Daffodils: A symbol of spring, but their bulbs can cause nausea and vomiting if eaten.

7. Hydrangea: These popular shrubs can cause stomach upset if their leaves or flowers are consumed.

8. Poison Ivy: Known for its infamous "leaves of three," this plant can cause an itchy, blistering rash upon contact with skin (shown in photo).

9. Poison Oak: Similar to poison ivy, this plant can also cause skin irritation and allergic reactions. It's best to learn to identify and avoid it.

Safety Tips:
- Educate your family about these plants.
- Keep an eye on pets and children when they're playing outside.

It's always fun to see one of our team enjoying a community event! ⚧️💖

We were proud to support the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center's Annual Fundraiser hosted recently at Diamond Mills Hotel. This event was an afternoon celebrating love, joy, and community. Members of our team enjoyed cocktails and mocktails on the terrace overlooking the beautiful Esopus Creek waterfall. Followed by a delicious farm-to-table luncheon prepared by Escoffier award-winning chef, John Doherty.
