Kilgore College Workforce Development-Health Sciences is pleased to announce that $271,350 in educational funds are available through the Texas Reskilling and Upskilling through Education (TRUE) Grant Program to students in the following programs at KC:

Phlebotomy
Pharmacy Technology
Certified Nurse Assistant
Medical Coding
Medical Assisting

Students enrolled in these continuing education (CE) health science programs can apply for financial aid to cover costs associated with these classes. These five courses will be available in online, hybrid and in-person formats.

The TRUE grant program aims to accelerate the number of students enrolled in high-value, short-term credential opportunities. All of these programs can be completed in less than six months. Upon completing their studies, students will take a nationally recognized certification exam to earn a professional certificate, preparing them to work in health clinics, hospitals and other care facilities.

To qualify, students will need to: 1) complete a 2024-25 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by visiting www.studentaid.gov; 2) submit an official high school transcript/GED; and 3) complete a Texas Statement of Eligibility affidavit.

The Financial Aid Office would like to invite all current and prospective KC students to submit a General Scholarship Application for the 2023-2024 award year. The priority deadline for the General Scholarship Application is April 1, 2023.

Students need only submit one application to apply for many scholarships. A processed 2023-24 FAFSA or TASFA is required for all scholarships.

Scholarship opportunity for seniors

Do you know a graduating high school senior?

Texas Bank and Trust offers the “Excellence in Education” scholarship for high school seniors graduating in May 2023.

Who is eligible? High school seniors living within 25 miles of a Texas Bank and Trust location are eligible to apply. Applicants must be pursuing an education in business, finance, or entrepreneurship at a higher education institution.

Scholarship opportunity for Longview area seniors

With the potential of hazardous driving conditions, Kilgore College campuses (both Kilgore and KC-Longview) will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1. All classes scheduled to meet before 10:00 will be canceled. Classes that meet at 10:00 or later are on as scheduled.

Classes will be held tonight (Jan. 31), but unusual circumstances will be addressed by the individual instructional departments as needed.

KC will monitor the weather overnight and will determine if any other scheduling adjustments need to be made.

Kilgore College will offer extended holiday hours Monday through Thursday, December 12th-15th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The following offices will be open in the Devall Student Center: Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Cashier, and Campus Store. Academic advising will also be available virtually during these times.

Our staff from the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) will be on hand to assist students during this week's Faculty Advising Thursday (Nov. 10) in the Watson Library. EOC hours are from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Room 200, on the second floor of the Library.
