The fall semester of real estate courses is about to begin at Kilgore College. Classes will be held at both the Longview and Kilgore locations. The first courses start August 26 and 27.

The Risk Management Institute at Kilgore College is offering four safety training classes during the month of August:

OSHA 10 Construction: August 1-2 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Excavation & Trenching: August 9 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hazwoper: August 19-23 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Hazwoper Refresher: August 30 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Risk Management Institute offers FREE safety courses through a generous grant from the Texas Mutual Insurance Company. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of each course. There is no cost, but pre-registration is required.

The Financial Aid Office would like to invite all current and prospective KC students to submit a General Scholarship Application for the 2023-2024 award year. The priority deadline for the General Scholarship Application is April 1, 2023.

Students need only submit one application to apply for many scholarships. A processed 2023-24 FAFSA or TASFA is required for all scholarships.

Three career expos are on the calendar for the Spring Semester at KC. The first is the Technical Career Expo, and it's scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Devall Student Center Ballroom.

This is a great opportunity for students in the technical degree programs to network with employers who host internships, or are looking for employees. All KC students and alumni are also welcome.

Other career expos are the Health Science and Protective Services Expo on March 21 (11:30-2:00 in the Adult Education Center), and the Accounting, Business and Computer Information Technology Expo on March 22 (10:30-12:30 in the Student Center Ballroom).

Kilgore College is offering its first Entrepreneur Bootcamp to give East Texans the tools to start their own business! KC business faculty and experienced business operators will share their knowledge to teach you what it takes to establish your own business and thrive.

The bootcamp is set for Friday, Feb. 24, from 5 to 9 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 25, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Lunch will be provided for the Saturday session. This course will be held at Kilgore College-Longview, located at 300 S. High St.

Tuition is just $10, or FREE if you qualify for eligibility. Eligible participants are US citizens who are legal residents of Texas, the guardian of a child 18 years old or younger and are willing to accept a State-authorized grant.

With the potential of hazardous driving conditions, Kilgore College campuses (both Kilgore and KC-Longview) will delay opening until 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1. All classes scheduled to meet before 10:00 will be canceled. Classes that meet at 10:00 or later are on as scheduled.

Classes will be held tonight (Jan. 31), but unusual circumstances will be addressed by the individual instructional departments as needed.

KC will monitor the weather overnight and will determine if any other scheduling adjustments need to be made.

The KC Rangers Esports team is currently recruiting and looking to immediately add players to rosters for Rocket League, Overwatch 2, Smash Bros Ultimate and Valorant. Remote students are eligible and encouraged to apply. The Rangers are looking for players with the following ranks:

*Rocket League - Diamond to Grand Champ
*Overwatch 2 - Silver and up
*Valorant - Ascendant and up

There is no cost to students to participate, but there are academic and participation requirements. Interested players can contact Coach Taylor at [email protected] or 903-988-3745, or stop by the Esports Arena in the Devall Student Center.

Kilgore College is launching its new Sterile Processing Technology program on January 3, 2023 at KC-Longview's North Building. This 10-week course will teach students the techniques, procedures and safety precautions of decontamination and sterilization of medical and surgical equipment/instruments, as well as the distribution of supplies and equipment. After completion of this course, students will be ready to sit for the certification exam to begin a healthcare career in hospitals and surgery centers as a Sterile Processing Technician.

Kilgore College will offer extended holiday hours Monday through Thursday, December 12th-15th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The following offices will be open in the Devall Student Center: Admissions, Registrar, Financial Aid, Academic Advising, Cashier, and Campus Store. Academic advising will also be available virtually during these times.
