The Chariton County Soil & Water Conservation District is accepting applications for a District Technician. This position has funding for one year, with possibility of renewal and is a full-time position Monday - Friday 8:00 - 4:30, with paid health insurance and retirement benefits. Starting hourly wage is $17.16 with advancement opportunities. These advancements are based on a progression line, along with required testing milestones.
Job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: field survey, project design, mapping, implementation of state cost-share and federal farm bill programs; communicating with landowners, operators, and contractors; assisting with rental equipment; working with and following policies implemented by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and the Natural Resources Conservation Service. This individual will work with parks, soils and water sales tax funds distributed to the District for the cost-share and District grants. Work is performed under supervision of the Chariton County Soil & Water Conservation District Board of Supervisors.
The applicant must have good communication skills, strong computer skills, the ability to manage multiple projects and be able to adapt to day to day changes. The applicant must be willing to work both indoors and outdoors under all types of weather conditions and over rough and uneven terrain. Basic farm knowledge/experience is helpful but not required. Proper training will be provided. High school diploma or GED required and valid driver’s license. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or be authorized to work in the U.S. and pass a federal background check.
