Medicare decisions don’t have to feel overwhelming — but choosing between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage is one of the biggest forks in the road.

Here’s the simple breakdown-
🔹 Original Medicare (Part A & B)
Gives you the freedom to see most providers nationwide who accept Medicare. Many people add a Medigap plan to help with out-of-pocket costs and a Part D plan for prescriptions. Great for folks who travel or want maximum flexibility with doctors and hospitals.

🔹 Medicare Advantage (Part C)
Offered by private insurance companies and often includes drug coverage plus extras like dental, vision, hearing, or fitness benefits. These plans have provider networks and may require referrals, but they also include an annual out-of-pocket maximum for covered services.

💊 Prescription coverage looks different too:
Original Medicare uses a separate Part D plan, while many Medicare Advantage plans bundle drug coverage in. Formularies and pharmacy networks can vary either way, so checking your medications is key.

What really matters when choosing?
✔️ Your doctors and hospitals
✔️ Your prescriptions
✔️ How often you use care
✔️ Your comfort with networks and referrals
✔️ Total yearly costs — not just the monthly premium

There’s no one-size-fits-all answer — just the plan that fits your health needs and budget best.

...that all Medicare plans and options are not the same. The choice of what kind of Medicare plan you get shouldn't be decided by what your neighbor or loved one has.

The Medicare plan you pick should be based on your individual needs, doctors and prescriptions. Both Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Supplement Plans have a lot of pros and cons.

There are a lot of working parts that need to be discussed and considered before making a choice.

Life changes fast — marriages, babies, new homes, better jobs. If your life insurance hasn’t kept up, your coverage might be stuck in the past.

Here are 5 signs you could be underinsured 👇

1️⃣ Your income has grown
If you’re earning more than when you bought your policy but never increased your coverage, your family might not have enough to replace your income long-term.

2️⃣ You’ve taken on new debt
A bigger mortgage, home equity loan, or other major debt means a bigger financial burden if something happens to you. Your coverage should help protect your family from that stress.

3️⃣ Your family has grown
Kids, stepkids, or even helping aging parents financially? More people depending on you = more protection needed for childcare, daily living, and future education costs.

4️⃣ You only have coverage through work
Employer life insurance is a great benefit — but it’s usually limited and doesn’t follow you if you change jobs or retire. A personal policy gives you control and stability.

5️⃣ You haven’t planned for final expenses or legacy goals
Funeral costs, medical bills, or leaving a gift to loved ones or a cause you care about should all be factored into your coverage.

The good news? A quick coverage review can show whether your current policy still fits your life today — not your life from years ago.

The team at The Medicare Connection can help you compare options and adjust your coverage to match your family, goals, and budget.
