Say hello to tropical depression #2, set to become Tropical Storm Bertha soon. Yes, it is now likely to come to Texas. Yes, some parts of Texas still need rain and some reservoirs would still appreciate the flood, I'm as aware of that as the rest of you in the comments in my last post. For **Central Texas**, this could be BAD news thanks to our soil being soaked and our reservoirs above capacity.

There isn't much else I can say with much certainty at this point. Potential Tropical Storm impacts to the upper Texas Coast begin Friday. Heavy rain will move inland thereafter with a flood threat, but the exact path of this system will make or break another flood threat locally, and the "cone of uncertainty" is LARGE because of high uncertainty in the path.

There will be a lot to monitor this week. Suffice it to say that we are in a very precarious position after last week's rain, and a tropical system coming to Texas deserves everyone's perpetual attention. More to come.

💚 Kerrville Community Flood Safety Update 💚

Our hearts are with everyone impacted by last night’s flooding. Please know that our team is thinking of you, praying for your safety, and we’re here to help however we can.

As cleanup begins, please keep these important safety reminders in mind:

✔️ Follow instructions from local officials and only return home when authorities say it’s safe.

🚗 Avoid driving unless it’s absolutely necessary.

🧤 Wear gloves, boots, protective clothing, and a mask when cleaning flood debris or mold.

🫁 If you have asthma, other lung conditions, or a weakened immune system, avoid entering buildings with visible mold or water damage. Children should not participate in cleanup.

🐍 Be alert for snakes and other wildlife that may have entered homes or buildings.

⚡ Never touch electrical equipment if it’s wet or if you’re standing in water. Turn off power if it’s safe to do so.

🌊 Stay out of floodwater whenever possible. It can contain dangerous debris, contaminants, and even electrical hazards.

🔋 If using a generator, operate it ONLY outdoors and well away from doors and windows.

This has the potential to be the biggest weather event so far in 2026. The Euro, and A.I. ensemble suites hammer the TX southwest Hill Country/Edwards Plateau with 12-14 inches of rain Monday afternoon through Thursday.
Given the dangerous topography of the Hill Country, this is going to be dangerous.
