Signal Financial Federal Credit Union is a nonprofit, federally-chartered financial institution serving communities in and near Washington, DC. Established in 1947 by telephone company employees, Signal was the first credit union to open an office in DC. With over $300 Million of assets and over 25,000 members, it now operates eight full-service branch offices in the District of Columbia, Maryland

, and Virginia. Signal offers a complete selection of financial products and services, business accounts, online and text banking, online bill payment, remote deposit, a mobile banking app, and 24/7 phone service. Membership is open to select employer groups in the area, as well as individuals who live, work, worship or attend school in Washington, DC and areas of Prince Georges County, Maryland, inside the beltway. Individuals may also join the credit union through our affiliation with several associations, including the Washington Area Bicyclist Association (WABA). Credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives that are backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government through the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Deposit accounts are insured by the National Credit Union Share Insurance Fund (NCUSIF) to at least $250,000. Credit unions return profits to members as lower interest rates, higher yields, personal service, and financial education.

The session will be led by Nico A. Stein, Senior Vice President of Information Technology and Operations, who brings global experience and deep technical expertise to his role. He began his career with IBM, working in Germany and Ireland, where he built a strong foundation in enterprise technology and infrastructure. Prior to joining Signal, Nico served as a Network Engineer at The Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, supporting complex academic and institutional environments.

Nico remains highly active in the IT community and is a member of several industry advocacy programs. He is one of only 47 Veeam Vanguards worldwide, recognizing his expertise in backup and disaster recovery solutions, and also holds distinctions as a Cisco Champion, Veeam User Group (VUG) Leader, and Object First Ace.

In addition to his professional leadership role, Nico regularly blogs on IT related topics, has been featured on numerous podcasts, and is a frequent conference speaker. He has presented on IT security and technology leadership at events on both the East and West Coasts, sharing practical insights and thought leadership with peers across the industry.
