Seattle Times Best in PNW • Caring Super Star 7 years. www.InHomeCareWashington.com At Acti-Kare, great home care is built on trust, follow-through, and heart. We’re a locally owned in-home care agency serving families across the greater Seattle area and Puget Sound region since 2016. We help older adults remain safely and comfortably at home — and help families find the peace of mind that comes f

rom knowing someone dependable is there. Most families reach out because something has changed. A fall. A hospital stay. A parent who needs more help than they used to. We help families figure out what care is needed, what’s available, and how to move forward — without having to do it alone. Services:
Personal care • Companion care • Dementia & Alzheimer’s care • Memory care • Respite care • Post-hospital recovery • Chronic condition support • Daily living assistance

Our caregivers are trained, vetted, and held to high standards. We have 24/7 live local team support — not a call center. Recognized by Seattle Times as “Best in the PNW” and Caring Super Star for 7 consecutive years. Locally owned and operated since 2016. Serving King, Snohomish, and Pierce Counties — including Seattle, Bellevue, Kirkland, Redmond, Kenmore, Woodinville, Bothell, Lynnwood, Everett, Edmonds, Shoreline, Mercer Island, Renton, Kent, Federal Way, Tacoma, Lakewood, and surrounding communities. Reach out anytime — we’re glad to have a conversation about what care might look like for your family.

We ♥ our clients and caregivers.

We're so grateful for the families who trust us, the caregivers who bring heart into homes every day, and this team behind the scenes helping make care feel personal, responsive, and dependable.

Home care isn’t just for the person receiving care.

Yes, it also helps the parent who isn’t as steady as they used to be. The loved one whose memory is changing. The person recovering from surgery or a hospital stay who needs support with daily routines.

But that’s only one side of it.

Home care also supports the family member holding everything together.

The adult daughter juggling work, home, kids, and caring for a parent. The spouse who has been the caregiver for years and is now running on empty.

Because when care becomes too much for one person to carry, the whole family feels it.

Home care brings stability to the whole situation.

It helps your loved one stay safe at home while giving the family room to breathe.

Meet Jeffery. 💙

Vietnam-era Navy veteran. Retired physician. He and his wife Yoshi spent three and a half years traveling overland — Nepal, India, across Africa by truck. He started medical school at 40.

A 2019 sledding accident brought him home to a power wheelchair. Today his world is smaller — but his caregiver through the VA's HHHA program gets him outside every day, and he is handwriting a memoir he says will take several volumes.

Near the end of our visit he smiled at Yoshi and said it simply: "That's what's keeping me alive. This lady. My caregiver. The grandkids. And writing down all the stuff we've done."

Meet our May Caregiver of the Month: Jane!

Some caregivers are good at the job. Jane is the kind of caregiver families remember.

In over a year with our team, Jane has never called out unexpectedly — not once. She stays in close communication with our office, advocates for her clients, and consistently puts their needs above her own preferences. She just does the work, beautifully, every single day.

Earlier this year, she faced a really difficult situation with one of her clients. She stayed calm. She was reassuring. And because of the way she handled it, her client had the best possible outcome. The family reached out to us to say thank you — and that meant everything to our whole team.

Our office said it simply: “She is one of our most dependable caregivers, full of empathy. Our clients are lucky to have her.”

Jane, you make us proud every single day. 💙

There’s a moment a lot of families describe the same way. You’re about to leave after a visit, or you get a phone call, and something stops you. Your parent seems confused, or unsteady, or you just realize: I can’t leave them alone like this. It doesn’t feel safe anymore. That moment is when most families find out, for the first time, that there’s a whole category of professional help they didn’t know existed. We made a short guide explaining the difference between home care and home health — the two types of in-home support, what each one covers, and what Medicare actually pays for (the answer surprises most people). If you’re in this situation right now, this is a good place to start.

"How much does home care cost?" is usually the first question families ask — and the hardest one to get a straight answer to online.

National averages don't reflect what families here in King, Snohomish, or Pierce County actually encounter. And comparing a private caregiver listing to a licensed agency is like comparing apples to oranges — the price looks different because the service actually IS different.

We wrote a full guide for local families covering:
✔ What home care actually costs in Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, and Tacoma
✔ What makes prices go up or down
✔ How families typically pay (including VA benefits, long-term care insurance, and WA Cares — launching July 2026)
✔ Questions to ask before choosing an agency

If you're in the early stages of figuring this out for a parent or loved one, this one's worth bookmarking. 👇

Debbie and Wes visited the care management team at Swedish Cherry Hill Seattle today — and walked away from one of those conversations you don't want to end.

When the topic of VA benefits came up, the whole team leaned in. We work with a lot of complex VA cases and love sharing our expertise with care teams who are trying to figure out the best options for their patients. That kind of collaboration is what makes a real difference for families.

We'll be back this summer with more flowers from our family farm 🌸

Thank you, Cherry Hill, for the welcome and the great questions!
